New Features

2/26/2015

  • A few features have been added, not the least of which is the Consultant Learning paradigm, initially for the Advanced Graphic Design class, but will eventually be utilized in all our courses in room 870.
  • Idiocrasies was added February 26th, as a way to alleviate some of the stress associated with the end of this first six-week progress report season.
  • Word-of-the-Day continues, keeping in mind that, after typing up your own notion of what a word might mean, then checking the actual meaning, you can earn an extra-credit point for every time you use one in a proposal or reflection. Actual definitions are posted every Friday.
  • In addition to the daily bulletins posted on the "Today" page, more detailed pages are being added under the Assignments tab, segregated under the submenu of either Graphic Design or Digital Photography. New pages include, "4-Way Chess," "Portrait," and "Social Justice."

WASC Tee Shirt Design Contest

1/27/2015

Here's our chance to gain some recognition for you as Designers, as well as for the Graphics program at MHHS. We have been requested that our class design a tee shirt for the up-coming WASC accreditation. The entire school was asked to come up with a design (advertised several times on the "ONE" video announcements), but either didn't have enough designs to choose from, or were not satisfied with what was submitted. The details of this assignment are on the Tee-Shirt Design assignment page.

This is a class assignment, but will also have incentives (which at this writing, are still being negotiated). Suffice to say, you're going to want to win whatever prizes we come up with, as well as the commensurate "bragging rights," when all (150?) of the teachers and staff are wearing your design during the WASC visit.

Tessellations

This example of a Tessellation is for the Advanced Graphic Design Students who are caught up on their other assignments, and are waiting for the next one to be assigned. Though this example is for doing a tessellation by hand, it can be completed a lot more quickly in Adobe Illustrator.

Download the PDF instructions for how this tessellation was created (keeping in mind that, for the Illustrator project, you will replicate the procedure on the computer.

If you haven't learned how to use the Pathfinder tool in Adobe Illustrator, I will demonstrate it for you, as it will make the creation of the tessellation much simpler.

Introduction and Favorites

The first "official" assignment I requested, since I took over the class, is an Informational Sheet (or "favorites" as I like to refer to it). Students will download this PDF, fill out the details of things they enjoy, check off programs they're familiar with, and then upload the PDF via the Contact page. This will help me to get to know them a little more quickly, as well as give me an idea of what sort of treats they might receive on their birthday, or for rewards for a job well done.
  • To download the PDF worksheet, hold the
[Ctrl] key and click the bold text, "
Grizzly Digital." (or the image of the form to the left).
  • After downloading the file, open it in Adobe Illustrator & use the text tool to fill it out.
  •  Lastly, save it as a PDF, using the file-naming
    convention (3last.first1234_InfoSheet.pdf) and
send it to me via the
    Contact
    page.
