This is what obsession looks like: during the final days of the 2015 school year, two of my Advanced Graphic Design students had questions about their logos. Coincidentally, both of their names have the letter "S" in them (Aaron Smith and Sage Holbert), so when I started playing around with the letters, this is what I came up with. As I mention my logo design process, I like to use Calligraphy to quickly sketch out letters in a variety of styles, placing them next to one another and seeing the relationships between them, as well as the positive and negative space. The first image is a digital photo, taken with my phone, uploaded to my Google drive, and then placed in Adobe Illustrator to vectorize. The gallery below the sketches will be updated as I add more of the design variations.
This page from my sketchbook represents about two hours, on two consecutive days, playing around with (obsessing over) two logo ideas for two of my students.
